Sharing God’s Love Through Food, Compassion, and Hope

Supporting Prisca with foodstuffs..She lives with disability but loves the Lord .Never misses Church.

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” Proverbs 19:17 (NIV)

One of the greatest blessings in life is having the opportunity to share what God has entrusted to us with those who are struggling. Sometimes, a simple act of kindness can bring hope to a family, restore a smile to someone’s face, and remind a person that they are not forgotten.

Today, I had the opportunity to bless a disabled widow at church with foodstuffs. It was a humbling and meaningful moment, especially during this difficult season when food is becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. For many vulnerable families, putting food on the table has become a daily struggle. Widows, particularly those living with disabilities, often face additional challenges in meeting their basic needs.

Food is a necessity, not a luxury. No one should have to go hungry, wondering where their next meal will come from. As Christians, we are called to show compassion and practical love to those in need. Sometimes, the best way to demonstrate God’s love is through the simple but powerful act of sharing food with someone who has little or nothing.

The widow appreciated the support so much. Seeing the gratitude and joy that even a small contribution can bring reminded me why this mission matters. Although the needs are many and resources are limited, every act of kindness makes a difference.

Preparing Rodrick for His Future in ICT

Shoes and clothes for Rodrick

In addition to supporting the widow, I also had the opportunity to bless Rodrick with a pair of shoes as he prepares for his industrial attachment in January next year.

Rodrick is learning ICT, and I believe that investing in young people is one way of helping them build a better future. As he prepares to take this important step in his education and career journey, I want to help him get ready with decent clothes and good shoes so that he can present himself confidently and appropriately in his workplace.

Industrial attachment is an important stage in a student’s life. It gives them an opportunity to gain practical experience, develop professional skills, and prepare for future employment. While technical knowledge is essential, personal presentation also matters when entering a professional environment.

My desire is to help Rodrick prepare adequately for this opportunity. The shoes are just one part of that preparation, and I hope to continue helping him obtain the clothes and other essentials he may need before January.

I believe that when we support young people with the resources they need, we give them more than material assistance. We encourage them to believe in themselves, pursue their dreams, and work towards a brighter future.

Every young person deserves an opportunity to learn, grow, and discover their potential, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.

More Widows to Be Blessed on Sunday

This program will continue on Sunday, when we plan to bless more widows with foodstuffs.

For widows who have limited sources of income and no reliable support, these circumstances can be particularly painful. Some struggle to provide for themselves and their children, while others face the additional burden of age, disability, poor health, and isolation.

Our goal is to reach out to these women with practical support and remind them that they are not forgotten.

We may not be able to meet every need, but we can do something. We can share the little we have, stand with those who are struggling, and encourage others to join us in caring for vulnerable members of our communities.

The appreciation expressed by those who have already received assistance is a reminder that even a modest gift can bring relief when someone is facing hardship. A bag of food may seem like a small contribution to some people, but to a hungry family, it can mean meals on the table and relief from the worry of what to eat next.

This is why I believe that helping widows, orphans, people living with disabilities, and other vulnerable individuals should be an important part of our Christian responsibility.

A Biblical Call to Care for Those in Need

The Bible reminds us in James 1:27 (NIV):

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

This scripture gives us a clear picture of the kind of faith God desires from us. Our relationship with Him should be reflected in how we treat others, especially those who are vulnerable and struggling.

The needs are great, especially during this season of famine and rising food prices. However, I remain encouraged by the knowledge that every act of kindness matter.

My prayer is that we will continue to be instruments of God’s love, bringing encouragement to the discouraged, food to the hungry, and hope to those who feel forgotten.

May God bless every hand that gives, every heart that cares, and every person who chooses to stand with those in need.

Together, through faith, compassion, and practical acts of kindness, we can make a difference in the lives of widows, people living with disabilities, young people, and vulnerable families in our communities.

To God be all the glory.
