SHUT UP – TO WRITE
COLOSSIANS 1:1
‘Paul an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God… ‘(v. 1)

This is Paul’s letter to the Colossians. This was probably written by him during his imprisonment in Rome in AD 62 or 63. Paul begins by outlining his credentials: ‘an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God’.Our first reaction might be to think it was that an apostle should be shut in prison rather than winning new territories for Christ. But although circumstances prevented him from travelling, his spirit was free to reach out through his pen. Had he not been imprisoned we would not have had the captivity letters – Colossians, Ephesians, Philippians and Philemon. From prison his influence extended to the ends of the earth and throughout the ages. He was shut up – to write.
Prayer
O Father, physical restrictions may hinder me bodily but my spirit is always free to soar, Circumstances do not have the last word in my life – You do. Amen.
