In these difficult times when the price of basic food like maize has soared beyond what many families can afford, God has reminded us once again of the power of giving, compassion, and community. Recently, I had the privilege of distributing maize to a group of widows who are part of our church support program. It was a small gesture—but for them, it meant the world.
These dear women, many of whom have endured great hardship, have always held a special place in my heart and in the mission of our ministry. Their lives are marked by strength, faith, and resilience. As the cost of living rises and food becomes harder to come by, their struggles become even heavier to bear.
So with a heart full of prayer, I stepped out in faith and gave what I could—kgs of maize each to help them through this trying season. Their response was overwhelming. With tearful eyes and joyful hearts, they received the maize not just as food, but as a symbol of God’s provision. They lifted their hands in gratitude and showered me with blessings, not just for the maize, but for the love, care, and consistency that our ministry has shown over time.
It reminded me of James 1:27, which says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” This is more than a calling—it’s a commitment. These widows are not forgotten; they are seen, valued, and loved.
I thank God for giving me the opportunity to serve them, and I will continue to support them whenever I can. Whether through food, prayer, encouragement, or just being present—we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
To those who support this work through prayer or giving, thank you. May God bless you abundantly. And to our beloved widows: your strength inspires us, your faith moves us, and your blessings are felt deeply.
Let’s continue to be a light in each other’s lives, especially in times of need.
