Introduction
December is a month of excitement—holidays, family time, celebrations, and the hope of a new year. But for many young people, it can also be a month of uncertainty, pressure, and impatience:
“God, when will things get better?”
“When will my prayers be answered?”
“Why am I still waiting?”
This message reminds us that waiting is not a punishment—it’s preparation.
—
1. God Works in the Waiting
Psalm 27:14 — “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Waiting is one of God’s greatest classrooms.
When God delays, He is not denying you.
He is developing you.
Just like a seed takes time to break through the soil, God allows us to wait so our roots can grow deeper.
—
2. Your Timing Is Not God’s Timing
Ecclesiastes 3:11 — “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
Sometimes we compare ourselves to others—friends succeeding, people posting their highlights on social media. But God’s timing is unique for every person.
The blessing that comes in God’s time will come fully formed, without regret, rushing, or confusion.
—
3. Waiting Builds Spiritual Muscles
Isaiah 40:31 — “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength… they shall run and not be weary.”
Waiting is not passive.
Waiting builds:
Faith
Strength
Endurance
Character
You don’t get stronger by escaping challenges—you get stronger by trusting God through them.
—
4. Patience Keeps You From Dangerous Choices
December holidays come with pressure:
Pressure to fit in
Pressure to compromise
Pressure to rush into relationships
Pressure to take shortcuts
But rushed decisions produce broken futures.
Proverbs 19:2 — “Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.”
When you wait on the Lord, you avoid traps the enemy sets for the impatient.
—
5. God Has Not Forgotten You
Habakkuk 2:3 — “Though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay.”
God’s silence is not His absence.
Your prayer is not ignored.
Your dream is not dead.
Your future is not cancelled.
God is working even when you can’t see it.
—
6. While You Wait — Serve!
Waiting is not sitting with folded hands.
It is actively trusting God by being faithful where you are.
Lamentations 3:25 — “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.”
Use the December holidays to:
Pray more
Read the Word
Help at home
Serve in church
Encourage others
Make healthy plans for the new year
When you serve while waiting, God positions you for your blessing.
—
Conclusion: Wait Well
In this December season, God is whispering:
“Be still. I’m working. Your story is not over.”
So young people, wait well.
Wait with joy.
Wait with expectation.
Wait with worship.
Wait knowing that what God prepares in patience will last in power.

Prayer
“Lord, teach us to wait on You. Give us patience, strength, and faith. Help us trust Your timing and remain faithful in this season. Prepare our hearts for the great things You have planned. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
