Struggling to Survive
Pastor Sam Newsam Omolo has a small Christian church in Siaya County, situated in the South Western part of Kenya. Sam’s congregation is comprised of mostly widows, many with young children. Because of the imminent threat of violence posed by Al-shabaab, Sam and his followers are currently in hiding. Food is difficult to come by and many of his people regularly go several days between meals.
They try to sustain themselves though small-scale farming, planting maize and millet, but they are currently suffering from a drought which has spoiled their crop. The situation has become desperate.
Sam (Samuel Otieno Omolo) was saved in 2001 when he met Jesus. He comes from a poor background where his father died when he was only 10 years old. He is also an admin of the Facebook groups; Christians Against White Genocide in South Africa and Global Terrorism, a group that fights for rights of all Christians and Whites and Blacks Against Racism, Tribalism and Terrorism and True Christians United to Help the Needy.
